CID officers in Narok have arrested a blogger who allegedly posted offensive messages on facebook against Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery.
Area police boss Paul Kiogora said Jackson Tirkolo Saruni was nabbed by detectives on Saturday afternoon at Narok town.
Speaking to the press yesterday, Kiogora said that Saruni is being accused of insulting the CS through social media last week.
He said the blogger is being held at Narok Police Station.
“It is against the law to use insult to people through social media by using derogatory language that might compromise security in the region,” said Kiogora.
The police boss said the locals should refrain from misusing communication gadgets by attacking leaders and locals without any proof.
In his Facebook message, Saruni accused Nkaissery of betraying the Maasai community by trying to impress senior Jubilee leaders who are from another tribe.
He further accused Nkaissery of misusing position intimidate the Maasai community even after being given chance by his people to be what he has now.
Saruni noted that it is sad that the CS is being used by some powerful to deny the community their rightful share and yet there are Kenyans just like any other communities.
“Each one of us knows that anything Kikuyu cannot in anyway help the maasai nation and any of us to a civil service appointment as any other Kenyan is but must not return the favor to the appointing authority by doing what Nkaissery is doing at the Moment. Nkassery is cutting off the hand that has fed him all this time and he will pay for it dearly,” read part of the Facebook post.
His arrest has elicited mixed reaction in the social media network from the locals over the weekend.
Some of the locals have supported the move by the government to arrest the suspect for failing to guard his utterances and breaching national cohesion among the communities in the region.
Others on the other hand accused State of using police officers to intimidate locals who speak their mind on government’s failure to fulfill promises to Kenyans.
